People across the globe are being encouraged to be more aware of their cardiovascular health this week as part of World Heart Day (29th September).
Making healthy heart choices can help us reduce our chances of having cardiovascular disease, which affects your heart and blood vessels.
World Heart Day this year focuses on making the places we live, work and play, ‘healthy heart environments’. The aim is to improve heart health across the globe by encouraging people to make lifestyle changes and showing them how to be good to their hearts.
For more information on how to protect your own heart take a look at the BSL videos on the SignHealth website. They have been made by the British Heart Foundation who are experts on how to make healthy heart choices.
Factors that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease include lack of exercise, overeating, unhealthy eating, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.
