Staff from White Stuff’s finance department got their paint brushes out this week to make a difference at Longley Road, a care home run by the Deaf health charity SignHealth. SignHealth works to give Deaf people the same healthy future as hearing people. Deafness leads to isolation, and poor service from doctors, meaning Deaf children are twice as likely to grow up with an undiagnosed life threatening condition or mental illness.
The finance team worked together to freshen up the home, which provides 24 hour care and support for British Sign Language users with longterm mental health issues. The garden fence got a lick of paint and the team also gave the office a smart new look. One of the tenants wanted his room painted in the colours of his favourite football team, West Ham, and the team got to work to give his room the full burgundy and pale blue makeover.
Kim had previously received quotes for over £1000 to decorate just one flat. She calculates that White Stuff’s hard work and generosity have saved SignHealth £1, 500.
Staff and tenants were delighted with the transformation.
“The work of the White Stuff team has made a real difference to everyone at Longley Road” said Kim.
“The makeover makes the home more personal for the tenants and less like a care home. Thank you from everyone at Longley Road to White Stuff for all their hard work.
