The CPS has published a report called ‘Violence Against Women and Girls’, which talks about the number of women and girls who are affected by violence and the types of violence they experience.
The report says that there were 107,000 prosecutions in the year up to April 2015. That’s an increase of 18% since 2013-2014. The crimes were mostly against women, but some of the victims were men.
The offences include rape, domestic violence and ‘honour’ crimes. Also included are crimes where someone sends threatening messages via the internet, or uses social media to groom victims.
DeafHope is the only British Sign Language based service designed to help Deaf women and children who suffer domestic violence. The DeafHope team help women and their children find a safe place to stay, and gives them help they need to rebuild their lives and regain confidence.[clear]
