At the launch of the Sick of It report, the Health Secretary Lord Howe described the document as ‘immensely powerful’.
‘Its finding are very sobering’, he commented, ‘in fact I found some of them shocking’.
Since the launch in 2014, Lord Howe has been a great supporter of Sign Health, visiting our offices to work alongside us to improve access to health information and services for Deaf people.
Lord Howe has acknowledged that Deaf people need to be given a better service by the NHS, ‘I assure you that the government recognises a lot more needs to be done.”
Recently he paid tribute in the House of Lords to ‘the exceptional work of Sign Health in promoting the same sort of access to health care and health information for Deaf people as hearing people receive”.
