In October 2014 CQC inspectors wrote, “specialists in their field told us they regarded the service as amongst the best in its field in the whole country.” They rated Longley road outstanding for effective service.
Longley Road can accept referrals from agencies (generally Social Services or Health) anywhere within the United Kingdom. All referrals are carefully assessed by management and other health care professionals.
This is a Supported Living Scheme run by SignHealth. It holds residential care home status under the Commission for Social Care Inspection and is based in Tooting, West London. SignHealth provides 24 hour support within an independent living environment for Deaf men and women with complex mental health needs.

Longley Road is a large semi-detached Victorian property which has been converted into six self-contained studio flats where tenants can live independently, but with the assistance of 24 hour support from staff.
Each studio flat has its own bathroom, fully fitted kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer and lounge room. There is also a communal lounge and laundry as well as a large garden. Enviromental aids for Deaf people such as fax, text telephones and specialist fire alarm and doorbell systems are provided.
The Longley Road staff team of consists of both Deaf and hearing staff members who have been selected for their personal qualities, skills and experience and who are familiar with and respect the culture, language and community of Deaf people. The staff team comprises the Manager, Team Leader, 9 Support Workers and a part- time administrator. All staff use British Sign Language as the main language for the project.

Longley Road operates on the basis of person-centered planning. The needs and level of support required is determined, with full involvement of the tenant, following a careful assessment of individual need.
SignHealth encourages tenants to develop everyday living skills, for example, looking after their health, learning to budget, cooking and socialising. Tenants are supported and encouraged to develop
interpersonal skills and to develop positive personal relationships both inside and outside their home. At monthly house meetings tenants’ and the support team formally discuss ideas and issues and negotiate choices in respect of the running of the home.

Longley Road assists tenants’ to achieve an independent and balanced life by working closely with families, social workers, medical professionals and colleges.
Longley Road is well situated in a residential area of Tooting and within easy reach of good transport links, local shops, doctors and dentists.
Once full assessments have been undertaken and funding agreed, staff will work with the tenant on making the move and completing a care and support plan which will be reviewed at 3 months. The staff team will support tenants’ to gain a fulfilling lifestyle, self- esteem and independence, achieving new skills and becoming actively involved in the local and broader community.[clear-line]
