Why? NHS England are producing a communication guidebook for doctors, hospitals and councils with involvement from SignHealth. It’s called the Information Standard.
The NHS want your opinions to make the guidebook the best it can be.
BSL Video Explaining the Information Standard:
The aim of the book is teach medical professionals how to give information to patients clearly, including Deaf people and BSL users.
But before publishing the guidebook, the NHS want Deaf people’s opinions about the healthcare service they receive now.
They want you to share your experiences.
Their aim is to listen to your experiences and then make them better.
The NHS want to breakdown communication barriers between Deaf and hearing people in medical situations.
