SignHealth and other deaf organisations are involved with a new NHS project called ‘Making Health and Social Care Information Accessible‘. At the end of the project, a a new guidebook called the Information Standard will be released to dramatically improve access to health care for D/deaf people.
The Information Standard will be a set of rules that tell health professionals how to make information accessible to Deaf people, and how to improve communication support. It will be the first time anything like this has been done, so we hope to see huge change.
It is really important Deaf people get involved and give their feedback about the Information Standard.
At the moment, the Information Standard is in its draft stage. Please look at the draft and think about how it can be improved, or which parts you really like.
Then, tell the NHS your opinions directly by filling in their survey.
On November 9th, all feedback will be collected and reviewed.
