In March 2017 we were awarded a Wandsworth Community Grant of £7,080, to help support young Deaf people living in the area.
This funding is enabling the Young DeafHope team to provide educational/preventative workshop sessions about domestic abuse, for Deaf young people through signed/accessible information, at OakLodge school, Deaf Units at hearing schools and Deaf clubs in Wandsworth. The workshops aim to help break the cycle of abuse through specialist support for victims and by providing vital information about how to recognise the risks. In addition, accessible information materials and on-line resources will be created for Deaf children to access. We are in the process of creating a new Young DeafHope webpage and hope to publish this shortly. You can find out more about the Wandsworth Community Grant Fund on their website.
From everyone at SignHealth – thank you!
