Nick Kitson was a well-respected psychiatrist who dedicated his work to the Deaf community.
He was the Founding Chair of the British Society for Mental Health and Deafness and longest serving president for the European Society for Mental Health and Deafness. He served as a SignHealth trustee for 22 years.
Sadly, in February 2014, Nick died suddenly.
On Friday 15th May, Richard Dunford, Chairman of SignHealth, attended an event celebrating Nick’s life and achievements.
‘Past and present members of staff and trustees attended a special tribute to Nick Kitson at the Royal College of Psychiatrists on Friday 15th May.
About 130 deaf and hearing friends, colleagues and people who had worked with Nick attended, joining his wife and family for a series of reminiscences about Nick and his work in the field of mental health and deafness.
Steve Powell also gave a talk about Nick’s work with SignHealth.
