I’m aiming to walk 60 miles in under 24 hours along the Thames Path (from Putney to Henley) over 8th – 9th September in support of SignHealth, a very deserving charity of which I’m proud to be a Trustee.
This will be a pretty tough and relentless challenge – but one I am happy to attempt on behalf of this amazing charity.
I am doing plenty of training to build-up to the event in September. Next time you go for a walk just imagine you keep going . . . for the next 24hrs.
I have been a trustee of SignHealth for almost a year. As I found out about the work they do it became obvious what a need there is for just such a charity.
Most hearing people take it for granted they can ring the doctor, make an appointment and then talk with them about what is wrong. Deaf people can take none of that for granted and constantly face barriers. By running care homes and providing outreach, advocacy and psychological therapy SignHealth is making a real difference. They also campaign so Deaf people get the access they are entitled to.
Having seen the support they offer to people I wanted to do more to support them – and this walk seemed like the perfect opportunity. I’m hoping to raise £1,500 from this 60-mile walk, which would support SignHealth’s work directly by funding their many services, such as DeafHope.
If you are able to help, even with a small donation towards this goal, I would be extremely grateful. The easiest way of doing this is by visiting my JustGiving Page:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. As soon as you donate, they’ll send your money directly to SignHealth, saving time and administrative costs for the charity.
Thank you in advance for your support!
