Anyone can get depression.
It can take one sudden change in your life to feel completely overwhelmed, worried and sad. Maybe someone has died, you have been diagnosed with cancer, or you have lost your job?
Sometimes you can feel depressed for a long time, but you don’t know why. Maybe there isn’t one obvious thing that makes you feel depressed?
This week it’s Depression Awareness Week. If you feel depressed, BSL Healthy Minds can help you.
Depression is different for everyone.
Some people feel very sad and decide to stay at home by themselves. Some people feel very angry and shout a lot. Some people cry, others self-harm and some people stop eating, or eat too much. People with depression often think negatively and worry a lot.
How can we help?
SignHealth have a Deaf therapy service called BSL Healthy Minds. All of our staff are Deaf, or hearing and sign. They are trained and confidential, and can help you feel better. Click on the buttons below to find out more about the service, in BSL or English.
Depression is only one type of mental health problem. Our BSL Healthy Minds team also help people who have anxiety, sleep problems or suffer from stress. We can help you if you are struggling to cope with someone’s death, or if you have low confidence and get nervous in social situations.
We have more BSL videos on our website for you to watch. Click here to see Health Information about your mind.
