1 in 4 women experience domestic violence in their lifetime
The vast majority of victims are women and children and the majority of abusers are men who choose to behave violently to get what they want
Abuse manifests itself differently in Deaf culture and many violent situations are overlooked
Some reports indicate over 50% of Deaf people experience abuse
Deaf people's access to services in the UK are currently very limited and in some cases non-existent

SignHealth organised a one-day workshop in London on Monday 12 October. Susan González, a member and hotline volunteer for DeafHope in America, led the day supported by colleagues from Women's Aid from the UK.
