Swine flu

Information about swine flu is changing all the time. Basic information is available in BSL from the NHS Choices website. You can see that by clicking here. You can also order an information DVD by calling 0300 123 1002.

We will try to get more information into BSL as soon as it is available.

If you think you may have flu then you should:

1) Check symptoms online.

2) Use the National Pandemic Flu Service. This can be done through a website or textphone (0800 1 513 200).

3) You should contact your GP if...

            - you have a serious underlying illness

            - you are pregnant

            - you have a sick child under one year old

            - your condition suddenly gets much worse

            - your condition is still getting worse after seven days (or five days for a child)

If you contact the National Pandemic Flu Service they will assess your symptoms and - if they think you have flu - provide an authorisation code. You need this code to get the antiviral drugs.
