6th – 12th May 2019
Deaf Awareness Week is a weeklong campaign run by the UK Council on Deafness. It features a variety of local and national events that aim to raise awareness of deafness and promote social inclusion.
This year the theme is ‘Celebrating Role Models’, so in support of the campaign SignHealth will be posting a new blog post every day from one of our role models. The blogs will come from a variety of people and will hopefully give you a flavour of what it is like to be part of SignHealth and the Deaf community.
Our Role Models
To celebrate Deaf Awareness Week we have chosen 5 inspiring role models from SignHealth. Each of them has kindly written a ‘Day in the Life’ blog post, which aim to outline their contributions to the community and allow others to find out more about SignHealth services. How can I get involved?
You can show your support by putting a ‘Twibbon‘ on your Twitter profile picture (a filter that goes over your photo with ‘Deaf Awareness Week 2019’ written on it) and by using the hashtag #DAWRoleModels2019.
We have also created a finger spelling leaflet that you can download and share: download the leaflet here.
