SignHealth work to help deaf people get the same sort of access to healthcare that hearing people do.
We mostly work with deaf people who use sign language as their first language. Doctors routinely fail to provide interpreters for deaf people and so they fail to understand their problems properly, and don’t explain diagnosis or medication clearly.
Providing services in sign language is also an important part of out work. We offer live online translation from sign to English and back again, help and assistance for women and children who are subject to domestic violence, care homes for people with long-term mental health problems, and therapies for those with depression and anxiety and similar disorders.
